Conestoga Valley School District
The Conestoga Valley School District is a smaller, high-performing school district serving the communities of East Lampeter Township, Upper Leacock Township, and West Earl Township. It has a student population of just over 4,200 students. According to state testing scores, 54% of these students are proficient in math and 73% in reading. It has 1 high school, 1 middle school, and 4 elementary schools. The district offers a gifted program and, at the high school level, Advanced Placement courses.
It has been named one of the “Best Communities for Music Education” several times by the National Association of Music Merchants. The school rating website, Niche.com, gives this district an “A-” rating. The school district is run by a nine-member school board. The Conestoga Valley School district truly captures the range of settings found in Lancaster County.
Much of this school district is suburban, but it is not just a suburban school district. Parts of the district touch on Lancaster City and these areas have a much more urban feel. On the other hand, as the district moves toward New Holland, it becomes much more rural.
