Hempfield School District

The public schools in the Hempfield School District are a source of pride for its residents and are one of the many reasons to consider purchasing a home in the area.  Hempfield schools draw students from two townships, East and West Hempfield, as well as two boroughs, East Petersburg and Mountville. The school district is the second largest suburban school district in the greater Lancaster area.  The school district serves a total population of just under 7,000 students, with a student-to-teacher ratio of about 15:1. These high-performing schools are above average compared to other Pennsylvania public school systems. According to Niche.com, this school district is one of the best in the state, with an “A” rating overall. Out of 500 districts statewide, it ranks #55 for best school districts in Pennsylvania, #34 for best places to teach, and #47 for best teachers.
